Mayer Materials
A rich, dark bed of spent coffee grounds

Sustainability

Coffee is at the heart of everything we do.

Every Mayer blend starts with spent coffee grounds we compost into living, nutrient-rich soil. It is what makes our products work, and it keeps thousands of pounds of grounds out of the landfill.

Over 48,744,000 pounds and counting

Pounds of spent coffee grounds repurposed since 2020.

We grow for healthier plants and a healthier planet. When you purchase our products, you support sustainable and responsible soil manufacturing.

Real coffee

From the cup back to the soil.

We work with roasters and cafes to collect spent coffee grounds and chaff, the same material most kitchens throw out. It arrives rich in nitrogen and organic matter, exactly what a healthy compost pile is hungry for.

Everything we make, from bagged potting mixes to bulk topsoil, is built on that coffee compost. It is why our soils feed plants the way they do, and why we have never had to reach for a synthetic shortcut.

How the loop works

Nothing goes to waste.

  1. 01

    We collect the grounds

Spent coffee grounds and chaff come to our Azle yard instead of the landfill, along with the roasters' leftovers most kitchens throw out.

  2. 02

    We compost it

Months of controlled composting turn the grounds into a stable, living soil, full of beneficial microbes, gentle acidity, and trace minerals.

  3. 03

    It grows again

That coffee compost becomes the base of every Mayer blend, back in the ground feeding the next crop.
